We formed eight years ago:
to be a social arm of the church in Ipsden and North Stoke
to put on a pantomime each year at minimal charge
to perform sketches and short plays as part of the church service
In addition we have expanded to include mumming, summer shows, tea dances, the Village Hall fete and the Golden Jubilee event. We have never tried to raise money, but nevertheless have a healthy bank balance and have been able to make some major purchases, such as a keyboard, full-sized sharkstooth gauze curtains and a large contribution towards the stage curtains in Ipsden Village Hall.
Membership is open to anyone of any age:
in Ipsden or North Stoke
members of the congregations of the Langtree Team
Extreme lack of talent and unwillingness to perform on stage are an asset: we aim to remain amateur. To that end, we don't have stars or guest appearances: everyone who joins is a full member and gets thoroughly involved.
We begin each meeting or rehearsal with the Lord's Prayer and end with the Grace, which everyone joins in. Rehearsals are always supported by wine and soft drinks.
There is no subscription.
