St Mary the Virgin, Whitchurch-on-Thames
The history of the riverside village of Whitchurch-on-Thames can be traced back to Roman times,
and possibly earlier. Furthermore, St. Mary's church is over a thousand years old. The building
incorporates 11th Century walls. Rebuilding and various refurbishments have preserved many interesting
earlier features, including: foliated cross, medieval Flemish stained glass, Norman and Perpendicular arches.

St John the Baptist, Whitchurch Hill
The rural village of Whitchurch Hill sits on the edge of the Chilterns, some 300 feet above the
Thames valley. Built in the late 19th century, St John's Church was designed by Francis Bacon
of Highclere and has some lovely colours and details. The tiling in the sanctuary and elegant
apsidal end of the church are a particular delight.
